The Uruguay 5.000 Nuevo Peso banknote was issued by the Central Bank of Uruguay in 1983. The banknote comes in a combination of reddish-brown, dark brown, blue, and green. Its obverse features the coat of arms of Uruguay, scales and a rising sun pattern in underprint, and Brigadier General Juan Antonio Lavalleja in a military uniform. The banknotes obverse features a quill, a crowd, of people, the flags of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and the UK Merchant Navy, on the promulgation of the constitution on the 18th day of July 1830 in Plaza Matriz in front of the cabildo in Montevideo. The banknote is 159 x 74 mm in size and bears a solid security thread with printed URUGUAY. It also has a watermark that shows Jose Gervasio Artigas. This paper bill has been graded 67 by the Paper Money Guaranty.
