This 50 Zambian kwacha note is a specimen note that was introduced in 1989. It is a red-violet and purple note that measures 155 mm x 74 mm and bears the signature of Francis X. Nkhoma. Its obverse side features a fish eagle, the national coat of arms, a butterfly, a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint, and a portrait of President Kenneth Kaunda. Its reverse side features a zebra head, the Freedom Statue in Lusaka, men working in the factory, a diagonal red SPECIMEN overprint, and a carving of a topless woman. Security features include a solid security thread, an all-zero serial number, and a watermark of Kenneth Kaunda. It is also a gem uncirculated note that qualified for Paper Money Guaranty’s Exceptional Paper Quality, experienced minor handling and has one or two minor distractions and above-average centering. Thus, it is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
