The Zero Euro banknote was designed by Richard Faile, creator of famous currency souvenirs, to promote tourism and to highlight the rich culture, beauty, and history of Europe. On its 2017-1st print series, the note featured the city of Palma de Mallorca in Spain. The old town is home to the La Sue Cathedral, a Gothic Roman Catholic Cathedral and one of the largest religious buildings in Spain, and the protected centuries-old olive tree in the town hall of Placa de Cort in the port city of Palma de Mallorca. On the obverse side of the banknote are the famous landmarks of Europe including the Brandenburg Gate, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, Sagrada Familia, Manneken Pis, and the Mona Lisa. The note shares many of the same characteristics of a real Euro except that it is marked as 0 and is not considered a legal tender.
