Zero Euro Europe Banknote, 2017, UNC, 1st Print, Castelo de Guimaraes in Portugal

The Zero Euro banknote from the 2017-1st print series featured the Castelo de Guimaraes in Portugal. The majestic view of the medieval castle that was built to protect the monastery from attacks in the 10th century, is now part of the countrys national symbol and is referred to as the Cradle of Portugal. The note was designed by the creator of famous currency souvenirs, Richard Faile, to promote tourism. He highlighted the beauty of Europe by adding the Brandenburg Gate, Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, Sagrada Familia, Manneken Pis, and the Mona Lisa to the front design. With an authorized printing by the European Central Bank (ECB), the note shares many of the same characteristics of a real Euro except that it is printed with 0 and is not considered a legal tender.
