The Zimbabwe 20 cents minted in 1997 is composed of copper and nickel. Its obverse side features the national emblem of Zimbabwe which consists of a stone-carved sculpture of a protective bird. The reverse of the coin depicts the Birchenough Bridge which is nestled on the Sabi River in the province of Manicaland. The bridge got its name from an English public servant and businessman Sir John Henry Birchenough. This round coin weighs 5.7 grams and measures 23.0 mm x 1.8 mm. It has a medal alignment orientation and a smooth edge.
