India still uses its own Rupee and Pakistan created its own Pakistani rupee. The current banknotes are printed by the SPMCIL which is fully owned by the Indian government. Gandhi is widely recognized as the face of the independence movement. Today you can find his image on Indian banknotes. The reverse in banknotes features images of monuments and historical sites. Another artifact found on banknote is the Indian coat of arms. It consists of 4 lion heads and it signifies the royalty and pride of the independent nation. Looking back at previous issues and current issues, Indian banknotes are very bright and colorful. They are very attractive to the eye and full of historic significance.
