The Falkland Islands pound was established in 1833 and currently consists of 4 banknotes and 8 coins. The 1975 series features the same design of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and on the reverse is a picture of the island. In 1977 Queen Elizabeth II celebrated 25 years at the throne with her silver jubilee and it was captured in this series of banknote. This image has been used on many banknotes and was taken by Peter Grugeon. The queen is seen wearing the Grand Duchess Vladimir's tiara, which was smuggled out of Russia during the Russian revolution by British Secret agent Albert Stopford. She is also seen wearing queen Victoria’s golden jubilee necklace and once again, the sashes from the two royal family orders of King George the 4th and king George the 5th.
