This 100 Nigerian naira banknote commemorates the 100th anniversary of Nigerias existence as a single united nation. This is also the first note in the world to integrate a Quick Recognition Code (QR code) into its design. When scanned, the code goes directly to a website that details the centenary story of Nigeria. The note measures 151 mm long and 78 mm wide. The front side highlights Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the former Premier of Western Region and the first modern chief of the Yoruba people. The front side also features a cotton boll and a manilla printed in green-to-purple SPARK ink. The back side features manillas, a QR code, traditional dancers and musicians, and cowrie shells. Other security features of the note are a coconut registration device, a motion-windowed security thread with the Nigerian flag and 100, a watermark of Chief Awolowo, and an electrotype watermark of 100 CBN.
