The Argentina 1 Austral on 1,000 Pesos Argentinos banknote is part of the provisional austral issues. When the elected government of RAul Alfonsin launched a new currency called austral, the remaining stocks from the preceding issues of pesos argentinos currency were marked with a boxed overprint on its watermark area showing the austral denomination. This particular banknote comes in uncirculated condition and is TAP authenticated. The obverse of the note features El Libertador Jose de San Martin. On the banknotes reverse are the Coat of Arms and the painting by Augusto Ballerini El Paso de los Andes depicting Jose de San Martin crossing the Andes with his army in January 1817. This 155 x 75 mm paper note has a sunburst pattern as its watermark.
