This 50 Hong Kong dollar note was introduced by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in 2011. It is a green note that is dated 1 January 2013, bears the signature of Peter T. S. Wong, and measures 148 mm x 74 mm. Its obverse side features a lion statue, the HSBC headquarters building, and a lion head and 50 SPARK feature. Its reverse side depicts the Spring Lantern Festival. Security features include a green-to-magenta windowed security thread with demetalized HK50 and large HK made up of small letters, an HSBC logo registration device, and a watermark of a Bauhinia flower with an electrotype 50 on pixelized design. It is also a superb gem uncirculated note that qualified for Paper Money Guaranty’s Exceptional Paper Quality, experienced very minor handling, and has slightly off-center margins and registration. Thus, it is graded 68 by the Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
